Hi guys, I'm An. I live in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. I am looking for a language exchange partner to study English. I'd be happy to help you to learn Vietnamese in exchange. Here is a little story about my English learning journey. I'd be glad if you read it and understand more about me. When I was in high school, English was the subject I hated the most. My pronunciation was pretty poor. I got so scared when the teachers asked me to stand up and answer an English question. I was afraid that it would look stupid if I said something wrong. In Vietnamese public schools, grammar, vocabulary, reading, and writing skills are the most important. Students lack time for practicing in listening and speaking. For me, English was a super boring, scary subject. On a good day, I read a book. That book changed the way I look at English. It seems like learning a new language is quite fun and brings many good opportunities. I still had a grudge against English :) I hated English for years so this feeling could not change immediately. But instead of doing nothing and blaming my teachers like before, that book does inspire me to find new methods. I tried all the things that made me feel interested in English. Reading English manga, listening to music, and watching short English videos on YouTube. The feeling of understanding an English song for the first time was satisfied. Little by little, I started to love learning English. I got up all the courage and a bit of money:) to sign up for an online course with a foreign teacher. The teacher always encouraged me in my studies, opened up, and told me many things about her family, jobs, and life, so learning with her was fun. It dawned on me that language is a tool to help people understand and empathize with each other. English is not just a subject to pass in the exams. After that course, my motivation to learn English grew a lot. I began to study English every day so far. My English level finally improved. The feeling of speaking a new language is cool, and getting to hear good stories from new friends is also great. Through this little journey, I realized that enjoyment, methods, and patience are crucial to success in learning a new language. I’d be happy if I could make new friends, learn English together, and tell each other good stories. I am very willing to help you learn Vietnamese and understand more about our culture, people, and everything I know about Vietnam. If you have the same thoughts and feelings as me, message me. Hi guys, I am Dafne Duong, you can call me Dafne for short, as Duong is my Vietnamese name, and not everyone can pronounce it correctly. I was born and raised in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, my specialized class back in high school was literature. So I can guarantee to anyone with whom I will have a chance to become a language partner that I speak perfect TV news reporter Vietnamese. Even though I said in my profile that English is my native language, I have to make it clear I speak English at a professional level, but not as fluent as native speakers. I had a chance to study master of Law in the UK for 2 years, so I believe my English is quite fair. I have a goal to become a multilingual language speaker of 6 languages, so I am now on the way to conquering my 3rd language, which is Mandarin. The motivation I have for learning Mandarin is that I have a special feeling for China and the language, I feel like I was a Chinese person in my previous life. Haha, sounds a bit silly right? But it's true, every time I listen to Chinese and watch ancient TV series of China, I feel so familiar, like I was there. Having said that, my Chinese is only on the beginner level at the moment lol. You must have guessed correctly one of my characters/hobbies, that is the spiritual topic. I am very fascinated by the universal unsolved aspect and secret, such as the Noah Boat, messages with aliens, and the ultimate goal of humanity. I love to read and I read a lot, mostly novels. I find it difficult for me to be attracted to self-help books, but I am still trying to find the suitable one for me. Also, I like all kinds of art too, going to museums is a treat for me, and watching movies is a special gift I send to myself whenever I have free time. Currently, I am a Chairman’s secretary for a big investment company in Vietnam, but I won't be in this position for long. As I am on the way to looking for the true purpose of my existence, I will quit this job to do everything I have longed to, like studying new languages, reading more books, and making videos on my Youtube channel. I must have said quite a lot about myself here, so I would love to make new friends and hear more about your stories.
