Hello everyone, I'm a native German speaker and a language freak. I've been working on my English intensively for about 3 years now (my English education at school was poor, since I grew up in the former GDR, the eastern part of the formerly devided country). Meanwhile, I think, it has improved a lot and I feel quite confident with it. But I'm still a learner, who makes mistakes. The grammar is not my best friend yet, because I only learned the most things by doing. Although the pronunciation of new words very often succeeds instinctively, that doesn't always work. I'd love to assist others with German in a conversational way to not get worse again and improve. I'm a huge fan of the Irish accents that are spoken more in the south of Ireland and around Dublin, but my own English is, I guess, a wild mix of everything from everywhere. I see English as a lingua franca, as kind of my door to the world, to other cultures. I love playing with language and language(s) and also like poetry, but don't know much of poetry in English yet. Besides language, my interests are manifold. I do some sports, I love nature. And I started learning to play the bodhrán. So, I think, there will always be a topic to talk about. Hi, I am Ian and I'm interested in learning Japanese. I started shortly before New Years 2024 and I've been learning everyday since then. My hobbies are a bit nerdy. I program (Also as a job), play video games and watch anime. I also want to get into making music although that needs to wait a bit since taking another hobby might take too much time. Ich suche einen Lernpartner/-in mit dem ich gemeinsam an unseren Sprachfertigkeiten feilen kann. Hi! My name is Maurice. I am 29 and I live in Germany. In my free time, I love to read books, study, cook, spend time in nature picking mushrooms or simply walking my dog but on the other hand I also enjoy watching movies, anime and playing video games. When I was 20 years old I lived in Australia for a year and I have been actively using the English language ever since, so although I am not a native speaker I would consider myself quite capable of teaching the basics to anyone who is just starting out. That being said, my forte is definitely German. Ever since I was a little kid, I have always had an affinity for anime and later on in life I became intrigued with Japanese culture as a whole. Not to mention the excellent cuisine. So about a year ago (according to Duolingo, today it has been 304 days) I began studying Japanese through the aforementioned app. A little after that I came across an app called anki, which ever since then has become part of my daily studying routine. I also own he first part of the Genki course, although I haven't found the time to really dig into that. I am pretty comfortable reading and writing Hiragana and I feel like I have memorized quite a few words, but when it comes to using them in any meaningful sentence I am lost. In short, I am really looking forward to meeting a language partner with whom I can share this learning journey. がんばれ！Lass uns unser Bestes geben!

Hello everyone! My name is Jaron. I´m German, currently living in Hannover (but I definitely want to move somewhere else. Any suggestions? 😉) . I would love to find people to practice my English, Spanish, French and Italian with. In exchange, I´ll be more than happy to help with your German! Things I really enjoy include reading all kinds of books, writing, puzzling over life´s riddles and absurdities, going for walks or hikes, watching the leaves fall or the flowers blossom, listening to music (mostly various subgenres of Metal as well as Ambient, Nordic Folk and Stoner Rock, but I´m absolutely open to other genres), watching films /TV shows as well as getting to know interesting people and their stories. And of course, I have always loved learning languages. However, as a rather introverted guy, I tend to be shy at first and can feel quite awkward, even anxious about making mistakes or generally making a fool of myself when talking in a foreign language. (Do any of you experience this contradiction, too – genuinely wanting to connect with people from all places and walks of life while having a hard time coming out of your shell?) This has kept me from practicing and learning for far too long. But now, I´ve decided to make a change and overcome my fear of writing in and speaking foreign languages. I am Chinese-Canadian who was born in China, emigrated to Canada as a child to an English-speaking city. I also learned French in school. I studied German and Latin at university; starting in Canada, transferred by credits to Germany and finished my BA in Germany, during the course of which I also earned a "Latinum" in Germany. I proceeded to study my MA in the Czech Republic, as well as having learned some Polish, Russian and Finnish, all for various reasons. I am the most fluent with Polish, as I was an international student while in Germany, in the same social group as the Polish students who also went to Germany for university. In the personality typology system, I tested INTP. I cannot drink alcohol, as I am Asian, and I have what is called the "Asian flush."
