Hi, I’m Dorothy! I love studying history and art, hiking, and watching movies. I speak advanced Japanese and beginner Chinese. I have several years of experience teaching English language learners. Let’s help each other learn!
I am retired. Love to travel the world. Japan is my top destination: people, food, culture, scenery, and onsen. Been to Japan over 30 times, for business and vacation. Walked the Shikoku pilgrimage (ohenro) twice, in 2016 and 2019. Since November 2019, decided to learn Japanese in earnest. Looking for partners to communicate and converse in Japanese and English.
My name is Albert S. Kim, a Korean American.
My mother language is Korean and I have lived in the US almost 30 years.
I will visit Toulouse to see my friends for three months from May 5 to July 29, 2022. During my stay, I would like to have a buddy who can teach me French, and I can teach Korean and basic Korean culture.
Hi. I love traveling, listening to music, and eating. I enjoy many genres of music, but lately I listen to many Korean artists. I also like reading and watching movies/tv shows when I have the time. I’d love, at some point, to learn to read, write and speak Korean, when I have more time to spare. However, right now, I’d like to correspond casually in English and find out about you and your country. I’d like to meet people from across the globe - especially if you have wicked sense of humor and, more importantly, are kind-hearted.

I am currently taking a basic Italian language class and want to continue to learn and practice to the point where I can feel comfortable communicating in native language when I go back to Italy. I lived there as a small child for a few months and most recently was visiting friends' family for 3 months in Umbria. I am working on acquiring my Italian citizenship and hope to travel there again this summer.
I am not a "natural" when it comes to languages but I am motivated.
I am an amateur photographer and writer; I enjoy swimming and dancing.
I’ve worked in engineering (aerospace electronics). I worked for more than 5 years as a court stenographer. I worked for “a few years” for Kaiser Permanente Health Management Organization as a teacher. I’m considered a professional user of the English language.
Overall, about 7 years involvement with Mandarin Chinese language learning, including a couple of years Confucius Institute at Univ of Hawaii
I have very small competence with conversation. The problem is consecutive sentences. Short sentences I have some, but not much competence with. Medium to long sentences I have very little competence with them. My focus -- what I strive to learn -- is sentence structure/patterns, the mechanics of how the language works. English and Mandarin are different; it’s almost as if one is upside down from the other. So I struggle. Pronunciation. I think my competence is kind of medium here, and I don’t really trust it when people say I sound good; I think people are just being nice to me. That’s not what I want. I want to sound as competent as any native speaker speaking Standard Mandarin--- that’s my goal.
Hi, I'm Andy. I love traveling to Japan but my Japanese is not good at all. I hope to improve before my next trip to Japan. I was an English teacher abroad so I have some experience teaching foreign learners. Let's learn language together!
