I have traveled to many countries around the world, but I have mostly relied on interpreters to communicate. That is why I want to learn and speak as many languages ​​as possible. AI might solve these communication issues in the near future, but the act of communicating remains important. My hobbies include foraging for wild mountain vegetables, fishing, swimming, watching movies, diving, and organic gardening. I work as a web manager and designer. Since I am exposed to a lot of electromagnetic radiation during the week, I try to release that negative energy by spending my weekends in nature. Hi, my name is Joel Bean- I am an English/German (and on occasion Spanish) teacher and former musician from the USA, currently living in Warsaw. I am extremely passionate about languages/culture and how it can help us to develop a much wider understanding of every aspect of life and help to build meaningful relationships with other people. With this in mind, my goal is to be able to take in the culture, language, and perspective of others with an open and curious mind, and to also be able to teach and share my own culture, language, and experience through history, music, philosophy, and other disciplines. I want to be able to foster a sense of "cultural counterpoint"; that is, the ability to see the same basic object via several lenses at once, something which can be a direct outcome of the language learning process. If this sounds good to anybody, and you would like to become a friend, please don't hesitate to reach out- I would especially be happy to meet anybody in person! I really love Steve Kaufmann and his respective methods in particular, and I would love to find others who share a similar enthusiasm for languages and in particular enjoy the process of learning. There are also several other polyglots/language enthusiasts whom I enjoy and I will be happy to name as well :) My German is at a C2 level, my Spanish is just right below, my Portuguese somewhere just under that, and my Ukrainian and Polish are somewhere in the middle (chcę zdać egzamin języka polskiego na poziomie B2 w ciągu najbliższych trzech lat) Met het Nederlands ben ik nog en beginner, maar ik find deze taal eekt leuk (i gemakkelijk) ook ik will een dag uit Polen naar Nederland verhuizen :) I would, in any case, like to refine all of the aforementioned languages to an extremely high level (with the goal of at some point being able to pass an advanced exam for all of those ) Cheers!

I worked in the finance and banking sector in the UK before uprooting and moved to Spain (before Brexit). Prior to settling in the Canary Islands, I trained as a teacher of English for adults (Cambridge CELTA) I enjoy reading texts with voice rather than reading in silence. My idea is that if everyone reads out in voice everyday, they may be able to delay cognitive decline later in life. Also if anyone is interested in improving their pronunciation, I’m able to help. I read English texts with chat partners. I have nearly a hundred e-books with levels ranging from B1 to C1. Trabajé en el sector financiero y bancario en el Reino Unido antes de jubilarme anticipadamente. Antes de mudarme a las Islas Canarias, me formé como profe de inglés para adultos (Cambridge CELTA). Disfruto leyendo textos en voz alta en lugar de leer en silencio. Creo que si todos leyéramos en voz alta a diario, podríamos retrasar el deterioro cognitivo.
