Bonjour!
My name's Titus and I recently moved to Montreal after decades of teaching English as a foreign language overseas (Saudi Arabia/China/South Korea/Thailand). I am a qualified ESL teacher and former IELTS speaking and writing examiner. My interests are varied (creative writing, ancient history, philosophy and of course linguistics and second language acquisition etc.). I'm a native speaker of English with very clear pronunciation and diction (if you're interested in British English accents, mine is somewhere between RP and Standard Southern English :)
I'm self-studying French using the French EF series on YouTube (they are short stories that present language in context and use audio-lingual listen/repeat exercises plus translations - not a bad series - I'm gradually acquiring some passive vocabulary and receptive listening skill but my productive skill is very limited and confidence low.
I'm looking for somebody to help me acquire some functional language for transactional situations (shopping, making requests, requesting basic information, using appropriate politeness etc.In terms of grammar - basic question formation and 'etre' verb Basically A1 level stuff on the Common European Framework of languages. Ultimately, I need a sympathetic listener and patient interlocutor - we can use creative and interesting methodology (role-plays, guessing games, interviews etc.)
