My name is John. I'm a retired academic hoping to settle in Albania (we've been here since last August). I'm a great fan of Jane Austen and Plato's Socrates, and spend much of my time working on them. My field (such as it is) is practical ethics, and most of the work I do is in that domain. I have a particular love of mathematics and logic, though I'm strictly an amateur. I used to speak French almost as my mother tongue, but I am sorely out of practice. I love Albanian and am intently studying it, in my haphazard way, for the moment entirely on my own (with the aid of my trusted volumes from the Akademisë së Shkencave). I enjoy working on languages, and would welcome the opportunity to help others with English, and even French (with stylistic reservations, since I haven't interacted much with French-speaking people for about 30 years, now, so I'm sadly out of date :-). And any help anyone could give me with Albanian would be greatly appreciated.
